Goshen Schools

Kick Off the 2026–27 School Year

by Betsy Xanthis

Goshen schools opened on September 2, but the weeks leading up to the first day were filled with activity as administrators, teachers, and staff prepared to welcome new and returning members of the school community.

New teachers participated in three days of orientation, giving them an opportunity to learn about the district, connect with colleagues, and prepare for the year ahead. New students entering Scotchtown Avenue School, Goshen Intermediate School, Goshen Middle School, and Goshen High School also had opportunities to visit their schools with their families and tour the buildings before the school year began. Current students and teachers were on hand to lead tours, answer questions, and share helpful tips for getting off to a successful start. A scavenger hunt, make-your-own sundaes and a barbecue also added an element of fun and camaraderie to the visits.

On the day before opening, teachers across the district gathered for team-building activities and a rousing send-off to launch the 2026–27 school year. With lots of   preparation, collaboration, and enthusiasm, Goshen’s schools are ready to begin another year of opportunity and learning.
