Twelve students in Mr. Robert Hoover’s art classes at the Goshen Intermediate School won awards in the 21st Annual Countywide Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Prevention Poster Contest.

An awards ceremony was held April 1 at the Paramount Theater, 17 South Street, Middletown. In attendance at the award ceremony were poster contest winners, teachers, administrators and staff from the Council as well as business and community leaders, local dignitaries and politicians.

Abigail Lewis, grade 3, won second place in the grades 1-3 division; Trey Bowman, grade 5, won second place in the grades 4-6 division; Carly Spreitzer, grade 3, won third place in the grades 1-3 division; and Omar Romero, grade 4, won third place in the grades 4-6 division.

Honorable Mention for the grades 1-3 division include Thomas Glade, grade 3; Natalie Pacheco, grade 3; Hannah Ritz, grade 3; Victoria Sabogal, grade 3.

Honorable Mention for the grades 4-6 division include Christian Bernal, grade 4; Julia McGuire, grade 4; and Julia Sullivan, grade 4.
