About Me

My name is Stephen Joyce. I first went to Orange County Community College in Middletown, NY. After two years I received an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts. I then transferred to Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY. There I received a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics. I became New York State certified to teach Mathematics at the secondary level (grades 7-12).

I was a student teacher at Valley Central School District in Montgomery NY. I taught 8th grade Pre-Algebra at VCMS for my first placement. For my second placement I taught 10th grade Geometry at VCHS. My first job was a year long leave-replacement position at Valley Central School District. For the first half of the year I taught AIS Mathematics in the Middle School for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. For the second half of the year I taught in the High School. I taught one Algebra course, one Pre-Calculus course, and three Algebra 2 and Trigonometry courses. After my leave-replacement position I started teaching 7th grade Mathematics at CJH Middle School. I have been teaching 7th grade mathematics for two years.

Math Figures

  • I enjoy using technology to teach. In my classroom I use a Promethean Board. It is very similar to a SMART Board. I also have a document camera and a class set of student response clickers.
  • In my free time I like to stay active. I enjoy all sports but soccer and hockey are my favorite. I also like fishing, going to the gym, and riding dirt bikes.

My email is sjoyce@gcsny.org. Feel free to email me at any time!
