On March 7, the 2008 Sojourner Truth Award winners from the C. J. Hooker Middle School in Goshen were honored at a county-wide ceremony at Orange County Community College.

New York State Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt observed, “These students, like Sojourner Truth, have worked diligently to be successful and have not accepted the “box” that society has attempted to place them in. They have excelled in their studies and have placed a great deal of importance on academic success.”

The C. J. Hooker is proud to announce the following eighth grade students as recipients of the Sojourner Truth Awards for Citizenship for 2008: Nawshin Ahmed, Allegra Anderson, Guadalupe Canete, Victor Canete, Eddie Castillo, Alejandra Chavez, Kelly Comeau, Jennifer Diaz, Ethan Fogg, Jonathan Frederick, Ashley Gordon, Itzamar Hernandez, Marissa Hernandez, Keitxa Reyes, Ana Romero and Cynthia Rodriquez.
